Yalta Rally

Time of the event: September 11-13, 2009.
Venue: city of Yalta, highways near Ai-Petri Mountain.
Conception: Yalta PRIME rally is a European Rally Cup Event.

One of the most spectacular and demanding events, Yalta Rally made an eagerly-awaited debut on the European Rally Cups and has quickly proved to be popular. Ukraine’s best rally and foreign teams are to challenge themselves on mountain serpentine narrow meandering asphalt roads.

This Rally came in 2005, and for the next 5 years the event went on to become one of the most difficult rallies in Ukraine. The event's nature hasn't changed much, however, with the narrow, sweeping asphalt roads, the tight and twisty roads in Ai-Petri Mountain are slippery and narrow - little more than the width of a car in places, is likely to present a real challenge!

The Yalta Rally event is the toughest on the Ukrainian calendar.

The most spectacular and demanding event, Yalta Rally is based right in the heart of the stunning resort area. The event's stages are mostly located in the hilly countryside. The high-altitude stages make the spectacular viewing with a mixture of mountain peaks and flat valleys.

The opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the Parc Ferme take place in the waterfront of the luxury resort of Yalta city.
It's a fast tarmac affair, with high-speed runs along tree-lined tracks, peppered with fast, twisted roads that demand absolute, balls-out commitment. This event is run on roads which never seem to stop surprising.

Cars have to be built extra-sturdy to cope with the surprisingly fast stages, while drivers and co-drivers have to be at peak physical fitness to cope with the numerous turns as the engines struggle to breathe in the thin air and suffer a drop in power of about 20 per cent.

The twisty stages place huge demands on engine and brakes, and natural airflow is limited by the slow cornering speeds. The tire wear can be a big issue.

Racing driving techniques can pay dividends on the fast asphalt stages as drivers aim for smooth lines through the turns to maximize their speed. Rally drivers must thread the thin line between the towering cliffs on one side and the gut-wrenching drops on the other.
It's definitely a rally for the asphalt specialists!

To succeed in Yalta, you need a sublime combination of commitment, fingertip feel and lightning reactions.
To win here, you need a savvy combination of tactical nous, smooth and efficient technique and flat-out commitment to cope with the high speeds, fast kinks that litter the smooth, loose-surface stages. Because the ability to drive at speed without wrecking your car on the rocky roads is one of the keys to success here.
About 200 000 inhabitants and guests of Yalta will be able to observe the breathtaking event.

Millions of television viewers owing to live broadcast will have the opportunity to watch the rally start and finish.

Representatives of the leading mass media of Ukraine and Russia, as well as foreign journalists are invited to the competition.
Thanks to an active support of the event by the President of Ukraine’s ASN Evgen Chervonenko, famous politicians of Ukraine and foreign countries, as well as the stars of show-business, sports and movies and other VIP persons will attend the rally.

Slick organization and a great atmosphere meant the Yalta rally being one of the most popular with competitors, teams and spectators, so expectations are high!

Rally fans are, as usual, always welcome, and more detailed information will be provided for making their staying more pleasant and interesting.

Meanwhile, we do believe that all those who are keen on the rally shall help motorsport prosper in the years ahead by obeying the spectators’ safety rules!
